The Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) is the world’s most prestigious award for a water-related science project at the high school level. The U.S. national competition brings together the winners of each state SJWP competition, who represent the best and brightest science research students from across the U.S, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

 

This year’s competition will be held on June 17-18, 2016 in Charlotte, NC. YOUR HELP is needed to make this year’s event a success.  Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

• Coaches:  The role of the volunteer coach is to provide a support mechanism that increases the quality of the student’s experience and leaves a positive, long-lasting impression. Each coach acts as a mentor, and he or she may end up being the inspiration for a student scientist who chooses a career in water quality.  The commitment would be Friday, June 17 – Saturday, June 18.
• Airport Greeters: These volunteers would greet the students in the baggage claim area of the airport and escort them to the transportation to the university that will be provided by WEF.  These volunteers are needed Friday, June 17.
• Office/Administrative Help: This position will assist WEF representatives with various miscellaneous tasks.  Volunteer(s) are needed the evening of Thursday, June 16 – Saturday, June 18.
